Conner Vickers #641

Track Record Breaker

Conner started racing in 2021 at K1 Speed Phoenix, joining the Teen League mid way through the season that year. Performing pretty well, he obtained multiple podiums, as well as racing alongside other Next Level Karting drivers like Giovanni Perez-Damico, Gavyn Rodgers, and Travis Myers. These types of performances continued into the next season, though this season was also cut short mid way through so the track could move locations.

Around this time Conner also got his first gas powered go kart with an LO206 motor, and started practicing at PKRA. However, he soon had to take an extended absence from karting to focus on schooling.

Returning when the new K1 speed phoenix opened in late 2023, Conner had at dominant 2024 season. After missing the first race of the season, he recovered from an over 40 point deficit with 5 wins, and 2 second place finishes. He also broke the track records several times throughout the year, becoming one of only 2 drivers to set sub 24 second lap times on track 1 with a 23.977 personal best. He finished the season 3rd in the standings, won the state championship race, and qualified for the 2025 K1 Speed National Championship. Conner was in group A in qualifying, where his group was sent out on a still soaking, but rapidly drying track. By the end of that session he had set times a full 1.5-2 seconds faster than the next fastest drivers. Here, Conner placed 10th in the nation in his first year competing.

He currently also competes at the K1 circuit OTL E Pro series with some strong performances. Here, he thrives in the rain. During the early 2025 season’s only rain race, he was comfortably one of the top 5 rain drivers there. This, coupled with the fact that the karts were on slick race tires, would have been the highlight performance of his season, were it not for a nasty unavoidable wreck. Conner is attending practices to prepare for entering his first LO206 Senior race at PKRA. He is also currently a licensed race car driver with the SCCA.

His proudest achievements are:

  • 10th at nationals
  • Multiple sub 24 second lap times
  • One of only two people to set 23 second times
  • His dominant 2024 season
  • SCCA license
  • Nationals rain qualifier
  • Career podiums to date: 6 wins, 5 second place, 7 third place finishes
  • 3rd place at the Phoenix championship from a 40+ point deficit
  • Won at the AZ state championship
