Maddie Longenecker #626

“Mad Speed”

 

Hi, I’m Maddie Longenecker, kart number #626. I have been involved in go-karting for around seven years now. It started with my cousin Micah Hendricks, and then my oldest brother Toby Longenecker, and then my older brother Jacob Longenecker, and then me, and then my younger cousin, Jonathan Hendricks. But it would not be possible if it wasn’t for my grandparents. They put in their time: to come to races and practice nights and sometimes they will take me and my brother to the track instead of working, their money: to make sure we had the right equipment (and all the drivers or parents can agree with me it is a lot of money to own a kart and maintain it) – and the truth is you don’t need fancy equipment to have fun on the track, you just have to make sure you are safe and have the time of your life out there, and their effort: to make sure we were happy and safe when we were on the track. Thank you guys for everything you have done for us and what is to come.

The reason I love karting is because you get to have lots of fun, meet new people and see your friends. And the other thing is you get to have time with your family. And I need to give a shoutout to David, if he did not let me join the team, I would never have had the encouragement to go faster. He also showed me what I was doing wrong. Yeah, we might still be working on that stuff, but you never become great at something if you never made mistakes. Thank you, David, for everything.
